At the recent Spring Meeting for the WMSL organization, several important updates and decisions were made for the upcoming season.

One of the key points discussed was the schedule for the upcoming season, with teams eager to get back on the field and compete. The league officials also announced some changes to the rules and regulations regarding the plate mat and bringing back grey dot balls.

In addition, the meeting also included discussions about potential fundraising events and community involvement initiatives that the organization plans to undertake in the coming months.

Overall, the Spring Meeting was a success and has set the stage for an exciting season ahead for all the teams involved in the WMSL organization.

Important League Dates for 2024

• April 7^th - Field Prep / Gear Pickup (mandatory for 1 rep from each team)
• April 8^th - Season Opener
• May 25^th-26^th - Willoughby Classic Tournament ($250 Entry)
• July 10^th-14^th - Year-End Tournament
• August 19^th - Fall Ball starts
• October 5^th-6^th - Fall Ball year end tourney

Tournaments

• There will be no ice breaker, instead introducing a new, mid-season tournament, the Willoughby Classic

Season Notes

• Forfeits with less than 24 hours notice: $50 Fine
  • Once bond is used up, team will have to post a new bond prior to next game
• Going back to Grey Dot Balls
• 3 Divisions of 8, instead of 4 Divisions of 6
• The whole mat will be a strike this year (it will cover the plate)
• No 1 & 1 Count Rule
• Minimum of 7 games for YET eligibility
• There will be no games on:
  • Easter
  • Alder days
  • May Day
  • Mother’s Day
  • Father’s Day
  • Canada Day 

New Purchases, etc.

• We will be donating some of the proceeds of our league back to the township, to start expediting park improvements.

Website

• New website has been set up and is now live.
• Coaches can expect an invite email this week to set an admin account
• There is an associated app that Coaches / Players can download
• App will sync with the website schedule and can be used to enter scores (Similar to TeamSnap

Diamond / Game Notes

• Park Cleanup - 1 Player from each team is mandatory, and we will be adjusting the bases this year
• Season games will run Sunday - Thursday
• Tournaments will run Wednesday - Sunday
• Weekday game times - 6:30pm & 7:50pm
• Weekend game times start at 9:00am

Items to Vote on

• Unlimited Runners - PASSES
• Earlier, it was mentioned that the league would be donating some of it’s funds back to the community. One idea for this would be a $500 scholarship to be awarded to a student at Yorkson Middle School - PASSES
